The prize was presented to the company in week 46 during a festive award ceremony in the Vienna Museumsquartier. GW CEO Wolfgang Niessner accepted the prize from State Secretary Christa Kranzl: “I would like to thank our customers – in particular the REWE GROUP Austria, our partners – especially RailCargo Austria, and all of the GW employees that made this project a success.”
GW launched OCC, the company’s exclusive unit train, on January 7th, 2008, featuring daily journeys between Vienna and Bludenz with a stop at Hall/Tyrol. The multimodal solution has been saving around 60 truck routes daily as well as 9,000 tons of CO2 annually since its introduction.
